What is common between the high plateaus of Ladhak with their arid and vertiginous beauty, the bustling streets of Delhi where the horns of rickshaws resound day and night, and the serenity of the Khmer temples guarded by small monks in colored tunics? Nothing at first glance. The landscapes are radically different; people don't look alike, and their beliefs and customs have shaped societies that function in different ways.

These pictures, which are not staged but taken in the spontaneity of encounters, aim to show the world as it is, and not as we would like it to be. They present scenes of daily life, street portraits, intimate moments, individuals proud of their traditions and heritage; also breathtaking panoramic scenery.

It is these smiles, this fraternity, this multitude of colors; and also these landscapes and this nature, still preserved and whose fragility is guessed, which were immortalized. More than a photographic reportage, this series proposes to tell the odyssey of the photographer, his path - and more generally that of the traveler - from the subjugation of the encounter with the Other to the catharsis of the contemplation of Nature.
